Is Your Subconscious Mind Making You Fat?

Monday, June 7th, 2010

If you have issues with your weight, relationships, career or even finances, they can be traced back to core subconscious patterns. This means, you can change them by reprogramming those patterns.

The subconscious, programmed automatically from childhood, controls, not only habits and behavior patterns, but also the choices you make in all areas of your life, including your health, relationships and financial status.

Knowing how the subconscious mind works, and how powerful it is, means you can take the opportunity to take advantage of it by leveraging this power consciously. This article will explain how the power of the subconscious is responsible for how people treat you, the level of your financial and career success, and even how much you weigh.

In the first place it?s important to realize that the conscious mind cannot control the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind has its own rules, language, and it runs on automatic. It can?t be reasoned with, and the conscious mind giving instructions to the subconscious mind, is like you giving verbal instructions to your car. You have to operate the vehicle in the way it?s designed to be operated ? it won?t respond to verbal instructions (no matter how loudly you yell!)

From earliest childhood, the subconscious is programmed through everything the child hears, sees and experiences. The programming will vary depending on an infinite combination of factors, including what state of mind the child is in at the time, what else he has experienced, whether he is tired, and the list goes on.

Here’s an example: a small child who loves animals and has shown no fear of cats before suddenly develops an intense fear or dislike of all things feling. He grows into an adult who is frightened of cats and doesn?t know why. His parents can?t understand why either. He?s never been hurt by a cat.

Here?s what the parents and even the child, now an adult, don?t know. One afternoon, the child was in a ?daydream? state, watching a cat prowl up to an unsuspecting bird in the garden. While he was dreamily watching this scene, a loud and sudden noise ? could be a door slamming or a loud telephone ring ? gave him a shock, snapping him violently out of his reverie.

He jumps in fright, and begins to cry. His mother comes to comfort him, reassuring him it?s only a door or a phone. But neither of them has any idea of the connection his subconscious has just created.

His conscious mind doesn?t connect the cat to the fright, but his subconscious did. And so, later on, when he sees a cat, his subconscious instructs his body to go into a state of emergency, addrenaline, sweaty palms, increased heart-rate ? fear.

Subconscious patterns can even be responsible for the way other people treat you. How? Well, the way you respond to others (in fact, the way you behave generally is all governed by subconscious beliefs and patterns.

The following is a simplistic example: a person, who has a subconscious belief that they are not very bright, will give that impression to others. And, no matter how much their conscious mind tries to hide this belief ? no matter how much they learn and how much they try to impress, they will make subconscious choices in everything they say and do ? of which they?ll be completely unaware - which will give the signal to those around them, that they?re not very bright. And the people around them will then react accordingly, which will further reinforce the belief.

The truth may be that this person is extremely bright, but something in their childhood (again, it could be something no-one remembers or even knows about), has installed the belief in their subconscious that they?re not bright, and therefore, it becomes the ?truth? and they live up to it ? regardless of what they try to do consciously.

Another example of the power of the subconscious is physical energy and eating habits. There are a wide variety of subconscious beliefs that can result in a reluctance to exercise, and/or a tendency to eat unhealthy food. Every choice, in every area of your life, is colored by subconscious programming.

The subconscious mind controls not only habits and behavior patterns, but also physical functions like the production and absorption of hormones, the metabolism, heart rate, and even blood sugar levels.

When you consider how powerful the subconscious mind is, you can see the benefit of reprogramming damaging patterns, and replacing them with positive ones.

You can now see how even things like earning potential, relationships, and physical health - all of which are currently running on automatic - can be changed by utilizing the power of the subconscious mind.
