Self Help ? Do Positive Affirmations Work?

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

Do positive self affirmations actually work? The short answer is ?No? ? unless you?ve got a few years to spare and a serious reserve of perseverance. The problem is that positive-affirmation is directed at your conscious mind and, sadly, your conscious mind has absolutely nothing to do with the way you behave, how you react to others and events, how you view the world or, most importantly, the way in which you view yourself. However, as I said, if you throw enough muck at your conscious mind, sooner or later ? actually, definitely later ? some of that mud will eventually stick and make some sort of positive impression on your subconscious mind. However, you?d have to stick at it religiously and, even then, you?d be faced with an uphill war of attrition because your subconscious mind simply won?t believe what you?re trying to tell it if its view of reality is the opposite. Why? Your subconscious mind controls your beliefs, behaviours and reactions and actually creates your very own version of reality. Positive-affirmation is like trying to having a snowball fight in hell?s fiery furnace!!

That said, if you?re really determined to change your life, some area of your life, or change yourself, how you view yourself or some unpalatable behaviour or bad habit, it?s your subconscious mind that you must impress. It?s holding all the keys, has its hand on all the levers and its feet on all the pedals that either get your life moving in the fast lane or, more often than not, grind to an absolute and juddering halt.

In order to impress your subconscious mind, you?re going to have to become like a little child all over again ? but childlike as distinct from childish. When you were a child you paid full attention to the reality of the moment, using each of your five senses ? that is how you absorbed your current set of beliefs about the world and who you think you are. As an adult, you now pay little or no attention to reality today ? your subconscious mind pretty much makes it up for you as it goes along! ? with all the normal consequences. You?ve got to get real, to relearn how to pay full attention to what?s actually going on in front of you, instead of paying attention to your subconscious baggage that?s weighing you down.

The normal subconscious is living in the past. And the key to your future is here in the present. You must understand that the present moment is the only place and time where life is truly lived. As such, you?ve got to re-learn how to pay attention to what?s actually going on, not what your subconscious mind, peering out through its dirty lens of long-gone events, thinks is going on. This re-learning process involves training yourself how to pay attention to what you see, feel, hear, smell and taste. This training must be practiced in a place where you will not be disturbed so that, when the going gets tough in the so-called real world, you?re fully trained and ready to do your thing in a manner that will lead you onwards and upwards to the life that heart desires.

Free Self Hypnosis - What Are The Dangers Of Free Self Hypnosis?

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Self hypnosis is the way that we are able to connect to our subconscious mind. It is the way that you probably heard is so successful when using hypnosis to quit smoking. What dangers could come from free self hypnosis? Some experts feel that this is the most powerful part of our mind. You probably know that it is recognized that we only use about 10% of our mind’s capacity. The other 90% is the unconscious/subconscious mind.

So if it’s our mind that we are talking about, of course we want to know how to control it. And if we are doing the work of accessing and programming it, why should we have to pay for it? It should be free. It’s information that should have been given us when we were born, or at least old enough to take advantage of it. We should have gotten an owner’s manual for it, like when we get a new car.

So why shouldn’t it be free? What could possibly be the dangers of free self hypnosis, you’re probably asking? I just have to respond that it’s all in how we interpret things. And that has been already programmed into our minds from years of experiences. And studies have proven these facts to be correct.

Did you know that when you expect something to work, that expectation will influence the outcome? And it works better! Did you know that when you value something you get more out of it? Did you know that the price that you pay for something can make it more effective when you put it to use?

Here’s an example. They did a study using aspirin. They took generic aspirin and compared it to the name brand aspirin. They were exactly the same formulations. Inside the bottles were the exact same ingredients. The only difference was the labeling on the outside and the name stamp on the pill. And of course the price. The name brand aspirin was twice as costly as the generic aspirin.

You probably would think that since it’s the same ingredients that the effects of the pill would be the same. Well no! The name brand aspirin was far more effective than the generic aspirin. The price we pay for something determines the value that we place on the product. And how effective the product is will be pre determined by the price we pay. That’s just a fact of life. The way things are.

So getting back to the dangers of free self hypnosis. Here we have a valid way of accessing and programming the 90% of our minds that are out of our control. That is what self hypnosis is very effective for. And it could be a total waste of time and knowledge because we have no value associated with it. It came to us free! So we are set up for failure.

There are ways to counteract the problems inherent in free self hypnosis. These are the ways that can work when using smoking cessation hypnosis. First, if you know ahead of time that you are predisposed to looking upon a product as worthless because you paid nothing for it, use your imagination to associate that product with something that you felt would be extremely powerful. And make that association as strong as possible. And secondly, if you get the opportunity to purchase something of value associated with that product consider doing so as a way of adding value and effectiveness to the free offering. This is the much easier method. Think of it as investing in your success.

Can Hypnosis Truly Work?

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

Hypnotism is a method of talking directly to your subconscious mind to program who you are, what you believe, what you desire, and much more. It is something like daydreaming or rumination which also influences the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind will act on Hypnotherapy to verify what your reality is and will actually change these beliefs. We all hypnotize ourselves all the time ,reprogramming ourselves on a day by day basis to become the new person we are every day. Hypnosis does work.
Hypnosis is a tool that anybody can and should make use of to boost your physical condition, happiness and anything else you need help with. It is just a tool to concentrate you power toward the inside to change anything about yourself that is advantageous to make encouraging changes to your physicalor mental state. Some say that only a weak mind can be alteredby it, but I beg to differ. It is the strong mind or a mind given to imagination that can profitably use this tool.

Years ago, I had a wart growing on my index finger just past the finger nail. I tried everything I could buy over the counter and the wart would grow faster than the solutions were capable of dissolving. I went to a book store and checked out all the natural healing methods I could find, but to my disappointment, there was nothing new until I found a very interesting technique to do it. The instructions were simply to look at and focus on the wart and will your body to destroy it, for ten minutes a day while relaxing.

In my mind, I imagined my blood as highways to send my army to demolish the wart. It was a highway full of soldiers and equipment appropriate to destroy the enemy. I concentrated hard in my imagination to make this real and to put up a good fight. After doing this for four days, the wart had completely disappeared , never to return. It was only later that I realized that this was self hypnotherapy and that imagination and belief are very powerful tools for self change and can easily be implemented to change even the worst of bad habits and health problems.

After experiencing this, I thought about the constant pain on the right side of my abdomen. As I lay in bed, I put my right hand on the area and used the same method I had used on the wart, but the results came faster. I have never had this pain again after only one session to deal with it. The more you successfully use hypnotherapy, the more effective you will become at using it to the benefit of the whole mind and body. If you have no experience with self hypnotism, it is much easier to apply this by using the most effective form of hypnotism called sleep-programming. The only thing you need to do is listen to an audio while sleeping, which anyone can do.

Is Your Subconscious Mind Making You Fat?

Monday, June 7th, 2010

If you have issues with your weight, relationships, career or even finances, they can be traced back to core subconscious patterns. This means, you can change them by reprogramming those patterns.

The subconscious, programmed automatically from childhood, controls, not only habits and behavior patterns, but also the choices you make in all areas of your life, including your health, relationships and financial status.

Knowing how the subconscious mind works, and how powerful it is, means you can take the opportunity to take advantage of it by leveraging this power consciously. This article will explain how the power of the subconscious is responsible for how people treat you, the level of your financial and career success, and even how much you weigh.

In the first place it?s important to realize that the conscious mind cannot control the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind has its own rules, language, and it runs on automatic. It can?t be reasoned with, and the conscious mind giving instructions to the subconscious mind, is like you giving verbal instructions to your car. You have to operate the vehicle in the way it?s designed to be operated ? it won?t respond to verbal instructions (no matter how loudly you yell!)

From earliest childhood, the subconscious is programmed through everything the child hears, sees and experiences. The programming will vary depending on an infinite combination of factors, including what state of mind the child is in at the time, what else he has experienced, whether he is tired, and the list goes on.

Here’s an example: a small child who loves animals and has shown no fear of cats before suddenly develops an intense fear or dislike of all things feling. He grows into an adult who is frightened of cats and doesn?t know why. His parents can?t understand why either. He?s never been hurt by a cat.

Here?s what the parents and even the child, now an adult, don?t know. One afternoon, the child was in a ?daydream? state, watching a cat prowl up to an unsuspecting bird in the garden. While he was dreamily watching this scene, a loud and sudden noise ? could be a door slamming or a loud telephone ring ? gave him a shock, snapping him violently out of his reverie.

He jumps in fright, and begins to cry. His mother comes to comfort him, reassuring him it?s only a door or a phone. But neither of them has any idea of the connection his subconscious has just created.

His conscious mind doesn?t connect the cat to the fright, but his subconscious did. And so, later on, when he sees a cat, his subconscious instructs his body to go into a state of emergency, addrenaline, sweaty palms, increased heart-rate ? fear.

Subconscious patterns can even be responsible for the way other people treat you. How? Well, the way you respond to others (in fact, the way you behave generally is all governed by subconscious beliefs and patterns.

The following is a simplistic example: a person, who has a subconscious belief that they are not very bright, will give that impression to others. And, no matter how much their conscious mind tries to hide this belief ? no matter how much they learn and how much they try to impress, they will make subconscious choices in everything they say and do ? of which they?ll be completely unaware - which will give the signal to those around them, that they?re not very bright. And the people around them will then react accordingly, which will further reinforce the belief.

The truth may be that this person is extremely bright, but something in their childhood (again, it could be something no-one remembers or even knows about), has installed the belief in their subconscious that they?re not bright, and therefore, it becomes the ?truth? and they live up to it ? regardless of what they try to do consciously.

Another example of the power of the subconscious is physical energy and eating habits. There are a wide variety of subconscious beliefs that can result in a reluctance to exercise, and/or a tendency to eat unhealthy food. Every choice, in every area of your life, is colored by subconscious programming.

The subconscious mind controls not only habits and behavior patterns, but also physical functions like the production and absorption of hormones, the metabolism, heart rate, and even blood sugar levels.

When you consider how powerful the subconscious mind is, you can see the benefit of reprogramming damaging patterns, and replacing them with positive ones.

You can now see how even things like earning potential, relationships, and physical health - all of which are currently running on automatic - can be changed by utilizing the power of the subconscious mind.
